Do you have to exercise on GLP-1 medications?

You do not have to exercise to lose weight on GLP-1 medications, but activity — especially resistance training — meaningfully improves your results. Because rapid weight loss can reduce muscle along with fat, strength training and adequate protein help you keep muscle, protect metabolism, and improve how you look and feel at your goal weight.

Why strength training matters

A portion of any rapid weight loss comes from lean muscle. Resistance training two to four times per week signals your body to preserve muscle, which supports metabolism and physical function.

Start where you are

Even walking, bodyweight movements, and light resistance bands help. The goal is consistency, not intensity. Your GOAL.MD plan includes nutrition coaching to pair movement with adequate protein.
