Why am I not losing weight on semaglutide?

If the scale isn't moving on semaglutide, the most common reasons are a dose that hasn't been titrated high enough yet, calorie or portion creep, inadequate protein, muscle loss lowering your metabolism, or normal water-weight fluctuations masking fat loss. A physician review can identify which factor applies and adjust your plan.

Most common reasons

Dose too low: many people stall on a starting or intermediate dose and need a physician-guided increase.

Nutrition drift: portions and snacking can slowly increase as appetite suppression stabilizes.

Not enough protein: low protein plus weight loss can mean losing muscle, which lowers your resting metabolism.

Measurement noise: water retention, hormones, salt, and bowel changes can mask real fat loss on the scale for weeks.

What to do next

Track more than the scale — measurements, photos, and how clothes fit. Prioritize protein and resistance activity. Then talk to your physician about your dose and plan rather than changing anything on your own.
